*Applications will be accepted for the last time for the Current Nursing curriculum for Fall 2009. Students applying for entry after Fall 2009 should refer to the new Upper Division Curriculum.
Columbia College of Nursing - Mount Mary College admits qualified students regardless of race, color, creed, gender, age, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin or handicap that does not interfere with the performance of
professional nursing, as defined by law. Applicants must meet the Technical Standards listed below, have successfully completed one year each of high school algebra, biology, and chemistry and attain an ACT of 20 or higher. Transfer students must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.80.
Applicants who have English as a Second Language are required to take the TOEFL and achieve a score of 550, unless satisfactory SAT/ACT scores are available.
ADMISSION POLICY
Admission to Columbia College of Nursing is a two step process.
Step 1
Students must apply and be accepted to Mount Mary College (MMC) as a prenursing student.
Step 2
Students who seek to enter Columbia College of Nursing in the fall semester must submit applications by March 1 of the preceding spring semester. To be considered for admission to the nursing major, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Admission to Mount Mary College
- Cumulative Grade Point Average(GPA) of 2.80 or greater on a 4.0 scale based
upon a minimum of 30 credits of college level coursework completed at
the end of the spring semester in which they apply
- Satisfactory completion of, with grades of C or better, or in the process of
completing, the following prerequisite and MMC support courses or their
equivalents:
BIO 103 Introductory Biology
BIO 210 Anatomy and Physiology
CHE 113 Chemical Principles I
PSY 103 Introductory Psychology

Grade Limitations Regarding Support Courses:
A Mount Mary College student or transfer applicant who has been unsuccessful in two (2) or more support courses at Mount Mary College or another institution(s) is ineligible for admission. A Mount Mary College student or transfer applicant who has been unsuccessful
in the same support course twice at Mount Mary College or another institution(s) is ineligible for admission. A Mount Mary College student or transfer applicant who has been unsuccessful (where unsuccessful is defined as a grade less than C in a graded course, or
Fail/Unsatisfactory in a pass-fail course) in two (2) or more nursing courses at Columbia College of Nursing or another institution(s) is ineligible for admission. A Mount Mary
College student or transfer applicant who has been unsuccessful in the
same nursing course twice at Columbia College of Nursing or another institution(s) is ineligible for admission.

Nursing Major “form” (found online at
www.ccon.edu)on or before deadline
of March 1.
Applications will be accepted based upon space available. Qualified students are encouraged to apply.

syllabus for each nursing course(s)
taken at other institutions.
Admission Decisions
Admission is not guaranteed.
In conjunction with other criteria, preference for admission to the nursing major will be given to students who complete a majority of the prerequisite courses listed above at Mount Mary
College. Students who have completed the majority of prerequisite coursework at
another institution(s) and meet eligibility criteria will be admitted to the nursing
major on the basis of available space in the Nursing Program. Admission decisions will be announced by June 1 for entry into Columbia College of Nursing to begin in the fall
semester. Since these decisions are made prior to completion of spring and summer courses, those eligible applicants who have prerequisite coursework pending will receive
conditional acceptance. Final acceptance will not be granted to applicants who must repeat a required support course or NUR 101 Introduction to Health Care Delivery and Health Care Professions. Applicants must submit transcript evidence of successful completion of all
prerequisite coursework prior to August 15. Students who fail to provide such evidence will be ineligible to enter the nursing major in fall and will be required to reapply the following spring. Final acceptance to the nursing major for fall semester is dependent
upon attainment of a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or greater, completion of at least 30 college credits, and fulfillment of prerequisites listed above.
