Location

Columbia College of Nursing is located in a residential neighborhood near Lake Michigan and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on the city's east side. The College is adjacent to Columbia-St. Mary's Columbia campus. It is served by most of the city's major bus routes.

An eclectic assortment of shops, restaurants, and recreational facilities is nearby. From the Columbia College of Nursing campus, students are close to many of Milwaukee's finest attractions. The College is less than one mile from the beaches of Lake Michigan, and close to the Milwaukee Art Museum. Parks, bike trails, a golf course and tennis courts are a short walk from campus. The internationally known Maier Festival Park, home of the famous Summerfest and ethnic festivals such as Festa Italiana and Irishfest, is a few short miles away.

The Columbia College of Nursing campus is located near many clinical sites, offering a convenient base for students as they enter the "hands-on" phase of their nursing education.

Facility

The Columbia College of Nursing facility offers students a comfortable and well-appointed base for their junior and senior years of study. It contains modern classrooms with interactive technology, faculty and administrative offices, plus meeting and study rooms.

The Helene Fuld Learning Resource Center contains Windows-based PCs, each with access to the Internet for nursing students. The lab contains several color and laser printers and a document scanner for student use. CCON students are supplied a personal email address and network account their Junior year. Students can communicate with professors and each other through e-mail and many submit papers and assignments electronically.

The Ellen Bacon Library contains more than 8000 professional volumes and 250 periodicals, most of which are nursing and healthcare related. The College's collection detailing the history of nursing is one of the most comprehensive of its kind in the state. From the library, students may access a variety of research databases, including CINAHL (Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature). These databases, some of which are available on CD-ROM, place an extensive array of resources at their fingertips. Students can also search for library holdings online.
The Campus Center , located in the basement, is available to all students and has a large screen TV with VCR, pool table, dart board, piano, fitness room, and a kitchenette with microwave ovens and a refrigerator. Laundry facilities are also available for residents.

Nursing course books are available at the bookstore located on the lower level of Bergstrom Hall on the Mount Mary College campus.  Books, supplies, and a variety of CCON merchandise are available for purchase.

Parking Information

Columbia College of Nursing students commuting to Campus have several options for parking and transit to campus.   Please call 414-961-4131 for additional information.

Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin

Parking at the Orthopaedic Hospital is no longer available, effective 9/29/2008. Students and staff that would have used the Orthopaedic lot will now use the River Woods Outpatient Center lot, located at 375 West River Woods Parkway in Glendale, WI.

UPASS Program

CCON has discontinued it's participation in the MCTS – UPASS Program effective 5/15/2008 .

Metered Parking at UW-M

There are several public metered parking lots on the UW-M Campus.

Street Parking near campus

There are multiple restrictions and time limitations on street parking in the areas surrounding the CCON Campus and is not recommended. Failure to obey parking restrictions can result in your car being towed. Please be aware of the parking restrictions in the area you leave your vehicle.

Fall and Spring Semesters Only - UWM UPARK

Effective 09-02-2008, CCON students are no longer eligible to use the UPARK Lots and Shuttles. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working with departments at UWM to create a new and mutually agreeable shared transit services arrangement.

Classes after 3:00 p.m. on Campus Monday – Friday

CCON students who have classes that start  at 3:00 pm or later are eligible to use the roof level of the Columbia Hospital parking structure after 2:30 pm only. The cost is $1 and you must show your ID badge upon leaving the structure. Students who park in the structure may not park in any space designated for outpatient or visitor parking.

CSM Parking Structure

As of July 1, 2004 , anyone  using the parking structure  without prior approval from Parking Services will receive a $30 fine, plus an additional City of Milwaukee parking ticket for $60.
