Philsophy Statement

The faculty members of th e School of Sonography believe that education is a joint responsibility of both the student and the teacher. Education presents itself in many ways. Therefore, students must exhibit an inquisitive nature to take advantage of non-traditional learning opportunities. In many ways, the students initiate and direct their own learning, enabling them to develop beyond the entry level performance of a Sonographer.

Faculty members are viewed as facilitators of learning. They are responsible for presenting instruction to describe the foundations and processes of sonographic practices. They are also responsible for designing clinical experiences that implement classroom instruction and assist the student in gaining skills to demonstrate the competencies essential for safe, quality clinical practice.

Finally, faculty members believe that sonographic education that is conducted by a school that is associated with a healthcare system provides the students with resources that bring the depth of knowledge and excellence in clincial practice that are essential to developing exceptional clincial practitioners.
