Shirley C. Titus was
graduated from St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing in San
Francisco, California in 1919. She attended Teachers College
at Columbia University in 1920. Miss Titus had the title of Superintendent
of Nurses and Principal of the School.
It was she who brought the four-inch-square cap to Columbia in 1921.
She died in 1967.
