CCON’s First White Coat Ceremony

On Friday, December 11, 2015, CCON held its first White Coat Ceremony. The presentation of “white coats” by faculty to students entering the nursing program replaces the long standing tradition of “capping” that lasted well into the 1960s. Like the Capping Ceremony, the White Coat Ceremony represents a rite of passage as nursing students begin their journey as professional nurses. The white coats represent pride, professionalism, knowledge, and skill.
